Robert's Story of Seeking and Protecting Freedom
My name is Robert Alvero, and I am running for Clay County School Board District 2. I am a father, Christian, firefighter, and Florida State Guardsman. I lived in communist Cuba until I was 26 years old, in a country where individuals are oppressed, indoctrinated, and censored. I escaped in search of freedom and the opportunity to raise my family free from government indoctrination and censorship.
I came to the United States because it is a land where individual freedoms reign supreme, rather than government entities. I am the father of three children who attend Clay County District Schools. They are my pride and joy, and I am motivated every day to protect their future, as well as the future of your children. My wife, Kirsten, and I are deeply concerned about what is happening to our country, our children, and our schools. I refuse to sit by and watch what happened to my former
country happen here, in America—the land of the free. I am committed to fighting against any form of political ideology being injected into our children’s education, from any side.
Education’s purpose is to equip the next generation of citizens with the tools and knowledge they need to be productive members of society. It is not to dictate what ideology is right or wrong, but to teach them how to be critical thinkers and to support our freedom-loving nation.
I promise to put student well-being and achievement first. I promise to fight against the use of alcohol, nicotine, and other illicit substances that are poisoning our children. I will support our college preparation programs as well as our Career and technical education (CTE). As a firefighter and FL State Guardsman I personally understand the value of our CTE and alternative programs. I guarantee that every decision I make will be in the best interest of your kids. That is my fiduciary and moral responsibility to you, the taxpayer.
